Music and Youth Assistant (Part-Time) - East side Branch-Fort Worth, TX

Description

The Music and Youth program helps youth experience the magic of music. Program provides instruments and staffing for free music lessons such as drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar and keyboard. Youth also learn how to record and produce their own music as well as form garage bands. Employees use their music expertise to mentor teen participants and help them increase their self-confidence/self-esteem by teaching them to play instruments, perform on stage, and record music in the studio.

At the branches, youth receive targeted services in a safe, supportive environment from staff who believe in the organizations mission. The Club experience focuses on three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Positive Citizenship.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Music Clubhouse Programming:

  • Accountable for assigned programming and activities
  • Accountable for quality programming and activities and implementing YPQ techniques
  • Accountable for promoting and maintaining a culture of safety in program area(s)
  • Accountable for assigned special programs and initiatives

Administrative Compliance:

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time.
  • Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree OR working towards completion of a degree, required. Music degree preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months experience working with youth

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work regular program hours
  • Ability to work summer hours
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships
  • Ability to relate to at-risk youth
  • Proficiency in at least one music instrument
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
  • Position requires driving personal vehicle and company vehicle. Candidate must have satisfactory driving record, valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under company insurance the requirement is for the employee to be a minimum of age 21

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of audio editing, audio engineering and recording
  • Ability to teach music lessons
  • Bilingual
  • Currently certified in CPR/ First Aid
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys and Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Minimum Pay: $15.00 hourly
  • Benefits: Eligible for Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay
