Job Summary

The Director of Student Engagement will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating student-focused programming and the implicit social work curriculum. This role works closely with the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs to support School of Social Work students through programming, trainings, and events designed to enhance student development, engagement, involvement, and a sense of belonging.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Senior Advisor to Student Organizations:

  • Serves as the primary advisor to student organizations and student senate members.

  • Develop and deliver training and education on risk management, leadership development, member development, officer transition, and other relevant topics.

Collaborative Programming:

  • Partner with School of Social Work faculty and staff, including the Office of Academic and Student Affairs, to co-create, market, and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and events that foster a supportive and interconnected environment for students’ holistic development.

Committee Participation:

  • Serve on relevant committees to support programming efforts that align with Student Affairs priorities.

Event Planning:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate major student engagement events including ceremonies celebrating graduating students.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the Student Engagement budget effectively, ensuring appropriate allocation and utilization of resources.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in social work, higher education, or related field with two (2) years of related experience in higher education, or an acceptable equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of related experience in higher education.

  • Experience with project management, preferably in higher education.

  • Experience working with students, student government, and student organizations.
