BigBear.ai AWS Cloud Systems Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

Overview BigBear.ai is seeking a AWS Cloud Systems Engineer with experience in a hybrid work environment, both on-prem and the AWS Cloud, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to join our team and help us deliver high-quality cloud solutions to our clients. This role supports cloud infrastructure, security remediation, and DevSecOps within the Army AWS GovCloud environment. You will be responsible for supporting application teams, developing executable plans, and implementing best practices for migrating applications to the cloud. The position requires on-site presence for IL6/SIPR classified environments. On-site is required 4-5 days/week as needed, in Arlington, VA. What you will do Advise the team on solutions to work within our on-prem and AWS cloud environments Assist with setting up connections, data and code migrations from on-prem environments to the AWS cloud Provide system engineering support for both IL6 (classified) and IL5 (unclassified) environments. Implement and manage AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, Route 53, CloudFormation, ECR, ECS, EKS, etc) and oversee system networking. Develop, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible. Drive DevSecOps initiatives using Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, and other CI/CD tools. Assist with cloud security remediation, ensuring alignment with compliance and regulatory standards. Work with the engineering team, support a culture of innovation and collaboration. Collaborate with various teams to integrate cloud strategies with the organization's objectives. Troubleshoot and configuring within our environment Work with the team to secure and maintain RMF accreditation for the application Resolve and eliminate cyber risks and vulnerabilities across the application space. Perform system upgrade activities of BI Reporting Tool Set Maintain and Adjudicate FISMA/ACSA findings for monthly system security scans Coordinate with ISSO for POA&M Responses as needed Develop and maintain yearly cloud account budgets for senior leadership including What you need to have Bachelor's Degree and 2 - 5 years of experience supporting an infrastructure management team ; or Master's Degree and 0 - 3 years of experience; or Associates Degree and 4 - 6 years of experience; or in lieu of a degree, an additional 8 to 10 years of experience Clearance: Must possess and maintain and active Secret clearance CompTIA Security+ certification Windows and Linux Administration experience 2-5 years of experience in system engineering and DevSecOps, specifically in AWS cloud environments, with a strong focus on services like EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, and CloudFormation. Proficiency in key AWS services is crucial. This includes, but is not limited to, Amazon EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route 53, Lambda, Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), and CloudFormation. Knowledge of advanced services like container services (ECR, EKS), data services (Athena, Glue, Redshift) and security monitoring services (Security Hub, System Manager, Cloudwatch) also beneficial. Experience in designing and implementing solutions that ensure high availability and disaster recovery. This involves understanding the principles of fault tolerance, multi-AZ (Availability Zone) and multi-region deployment strategies. Strong skills in AWS network architecture and security are essential. This includes setting up VPCs, subnets, NAT, Transit gateways, as well as implementing network ACLs, security groups, and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and policies Experience with IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to automate the setup, scaling, and management of infrastructure. Familiarity with AWS monitoring and management tools like Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Config, and AWS Systems Manager for tracking the performance and health of applications and services. Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to automate and streamline the deployment and management processes. Experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline. Skills in performance tuning and optimization of AWS resources to ensure efficient operation of the environment. Understanding of compliance requirements specific to AWS GovCloud, including FedRAMP and DoD SRG compliance standards. Experience with security remediation and risk management frameworks. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation of cloud operations. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in on-prem and AWS environments Strong hands-on experience with DevSecOps tools and methodologies. Experience with container development (docker, podman) Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various teams and stakeholders. Experience in migrating applications to cloud, preferably AWS Knowledge of application architecture in the cloud, including refactoring, integration with other services, and security Familiarity with DSO standards and processes Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience with scripting for automation What we'd like you to have AWS Professional-level certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional) Working knowledge of the Agile Development methodology. Proficiency documentation and knowledge sharing. Familiar with working in a DoD environment. Knowledge of ATO/IATT requirements.
