Amazon Category Manager, Spare Parts, Global Procurement Operations (GPO) in Arlington, Virginia

This Category Manager, Spare Parts supports Amazon's global operations network by developing and implementing procurement and logistics strategies. The individual in this role will manage internal and external relationships.

We are seeking a leader with procurement experience to strategically source products and services as part of our Global Procurement Organization. The person in this role will coordinate with several teams across Amazon and will interact with various supplier types including manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors. The position will work and partner with multiple teams to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings, and improve productivity across the category.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with internal customers groups and ensure GPO is meeting their procurement needs.

  • Execute category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional sourcing events, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position

  • Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and total cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use

  • Develop and implement Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Amazon

  • Identify, achieve and report on savings and value targets for category activities

  • Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category

20-30% travel including occasional international travel

A day in the life

  • Earn trust with internal customers across various levels and geographies

  • Manage requests for Proposal (RFP), Information (RFI), and Quote (RFQ)

  • Leverage procurement resources to benefit our internal customers

  • Understand problems, pull people together, and deliver results

  • Own commercial relationship with suppliers, implement and continually evaluate key performance indicators and service levels

  • Negotiate and execute contracts with suppliers identified through RFx process

Our team strives to be a single point of contact for procurement support to our stakeholders. We are finding ways to move faster and more efficiently than ever before to deliver upgrades to capacity and associate experience across Amazon's Operations network.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 2+ years of supply chain experience

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Experience defining and executing program requirements

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • Travel up to 30% of the time

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
