GCyber F5 Network Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

GCyber is hiring an F5 Network Engineer, to support our Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management – Next Gen (JSP ETM-NG) team at the Pentagon.  

**Due to the nature of this role, the employee must report full-time onsite in Arlington, VA.

As an F5 Network Engineer, you will:

  • Manage and maintain F5 BIG-IP devices, including Local Traffic Managers (LTM) and Global Traffic Managers (GTM), ensuring optimal network performance and security across a large enterprise network.

  • Implement and maintain load balancing solutions to ensure efficient distribution of network traffic.

  • Configure and manage virtual servers, pools, nodes, and other F5 objects.

  • Develop iRules and policies to manage traffic and enhance network security.

  • Monitor the network performance using F5 solutions and other monitoring tools.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to F5 devices and services.

  • Perform routine system upgrades and patches to ensure the stability and security of the networking environment.

  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures related to F5 devices and management.

  • Provide training and support to network operations team members on F5 device management and troubleshooting.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (i.e., Security+, CySA+, CCNA – Security, CND, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)

  • Minimum one (1) relevant industry recognized networking certification:  

  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

  • Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA)

  • BS in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years’ experience supporting DOD environments.

  • Hands on experience with F5 load balancers to include troubleshooting, configuring, upgrading, maintaining, and monitoring an enterprise F5 load balancer network architecture.

  • Experience troubleshooting, managing, and monitoring the health of Cisco and Juniper routers and switches.

  • Broad understanding of network infrastructure topologies, security policies, firewalls, and the L2/L3 switch and router infrastructure.

  • Additional desired experience:

  • Deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.

  • Managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environment.

  • Network security, including firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability remediation.

  • Using network management and analysis tools such as SNMP probes, network taps, and traffic analyzer.

  • Experience in Software Define Networks (SDN) preferred.

  • Network management & performance platforms, such as NetScout, IBM NetCool, SolarWinds NMS products, NetBrain, Infovista, Aruba ClearPass, etc.

  • Experience creating scripts to automate routine administration tasks.
