Job Summary:

The Junior Construction Manager assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects under the supervision of a Senior Construction Manager or Project Manager. This role is ideal for individuals who are early in their construction management careers and looking to gain experience and develop their skills.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Project Planning :

  • Support the development of detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.

  • Assist in reviewing project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work.

  • Site Supervision :

  • Monitor daily construction activities to ensure they align with project plans and schedules.

  • Assist in overseeing subcontractors and laborers to ensure work is performed according to standards.

  • Quality Control :

  • Help implement quality assurance processes to ensure construction work meets industry standards and project specifications.

  • Conduct site inspections to monitor workmanship and materials under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Safety Management :

  • Assist in enforcing safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Support the conduct of safety training and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Scheduling and Coordination :

  • Help develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that all activities are completed on time.

  • Assist in coordinating with various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

  • Documentation and Reporting :

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection reports.

  • Prepare and present regular updates on project status to senior management.

  • Cost Control and Budget Management :

  • Assist in tracking project costs and managing budgets.

  • Help identify cost-saving opportunities and support contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Communication :

  • Maintain regular communication with project team members and stakeholders.

  • Help address any issues or concerns that arise during the construction process.

  • Problem Solving :

  • Identify potential issues and work with senior staff to develop solutions.

  • Assist in implementing corrective actions to keep the project on track.

  • Procurement and Logistics :

  • Support the procurement of materials, equipment, and services.

  • Help manage the logistics of getting materials to the site and ensuring they are stored properly.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 Years of Experience

  • Some experience in construction, such as internships, co-op programs, or entry-level positions, is advantageous. On-the-job training is often provided.

  • Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and technologies.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address issues that arise during construction.

  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, or other project management software.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from senior staff.

  • Basic understanding of construction safety practices and regulations.
