Amazon Web Services is seeking top industry technical expert to grow our team dedicated to expanding our Controlled Working Environment (CWE) team to build, operate and maintain a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) approved infrastructure.

We are looking for an experienced security leader with a deep understanding on how to balance business and technical risk that can effect the program. As a security leader, you will own building and managing a team of security engineers, fostering a strong team culture. You and your team will be responsible for reviewing and testing our new services before release, partnering closely with our development teams to produce innovative and secure solutions. The candidate should be able to identify IT risks, define a mitigation plan to remediate, and consistently drive for the right results. They must have a passion for engineering novel solutions to complex security challenges; and recognize and fill gaps in capabilities.

The successful candidate will have a good mix of broad technical knowledge and a demonstrated background in information security. We value broad and deep technical knowledge, specifically in the fields of Windows forensics, Cloud security, security operations, incident response, network security, and emergent security intelligence.

Amazon has a fast-paced environment where we “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” On a “typical” day engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with the top engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team that builds and maintains CMMC compliant infrastructure.

  • Establish relationships with internal and external partners and peer stakeholders to understand and meet their needs while operating existing systems at a high level of Operational Excellence.

  • Own and track team engineering delivery, goals, metrics, and stakeholder management.

  • Develop and maintain a culture of innovation and operational excellence in the teams.

  • Work closely with business and tech leadership to define product and tech roadmap.

  • Hiring, developing, and retaining a world class engineering team that meets Amazon’s high bar.

  • Create and implement automated processes that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency and scalability.

  • Evaluate the impact of current security threats, advisories, publications, and academic research to the organization. Identify plans of action and coordinate as necessary across teams to mitigate risk.

  • Recognize, adopt, and instill the best practices of security engineering throughout the organization.

  • Engage with and influence the key stakeholders and internal teams to ensure compliance, security and operational functional requirements are met or exceeded.

  • A successful candidate will be an experienced leader with an established background in developing and operating platforms and services, developing and hiring top talent, technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a dynamic fast paced environment.

AWS Global Sales (AGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience managing team of software and security engineers across full product life cycles.

  • 5+ years experience in three or more of the following: incident response, application security, network security, security operations, or network engineering, with at least two years of experience on a Security Operations team, especially coordinating responses to security incidents.

  • Experience in Systems and Network Administration, System Reliability Engineering, or Application Security

  • Excellence in technical communications with both technical and non-technical peers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or related field.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (associate) or AWS Certified Developer (associate) or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (associate)

  • Understanding and experience implementing/overseeing Government compliance requirements/programs such as NIST 800-171 and CMMC

  • 5+ years of experience with web protocols and Linux/Unix tools and architecture

  • Experience with open-source technologies

  • Experience with maintaining distributed systems and web services

  • Understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability

  • System engineering experience in the cloud

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
