POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Arlington, VA

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Data Analytics and AI to lead our efforts in leveraging data and artificial intelligence to drive internal efficiencies and support our conservation work. This role will be pivotal in developing and implementing data strategies that enhance our operational effectiveness and contribute to our mission of protecting nature for people.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Leadership:Develop and execute a comprehensive data analytics and AI strategy that aligns with the organization's goals for internal efficiencies, including a new ERP implementation, and conservation efforts.
  • Data Management:Oversee and collaborate on the collection, storage, and analysis of data from various sources to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility.
  • AI Implementation:Lead the development and deployment of AI solutions to optimize internal processes, improve decision-making, and support conservation projects with scientists, programs, and field teams.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, and conservation departments, to identify data needs and opportunities for AI applications.
  • Innovation:Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in data analytics and AI, and integrate innovative solutions into the organization's operations.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance and training to staff on data analytics and AI tools and techniques to foster a data-driven culture within the organization.
  • Performance Monitoring:Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data analytics and AI initiatives and report on progress to senior leadership.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position follows a hybrid work structure, working some days from the office and some remotely. Guidance will be shared during the interview process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field).
  • Experience:10 or more years of experience in data analytics, AI, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and AI technologies (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing).
  • Leadership:Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical and impactful solutions.
  • Passion for Conservation:A commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for using technology to support conservation efforts.

Preferred

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
