Amazon Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) in Arlington, Virginia

Description

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be a strategic analytics partner, collaborating closely with product managers, data scientists, and economists. Your core responsibility will be to generate highly visible metrics, dashboards, and strategy documents that provide data-driven insights to support critical decisions by senior leadership. You will drive automation initiatives to scale analytics capabilities and meet the evolving needs of both business and technical teams. You'll also have an opportunity to be a force multiplier by mentoring other BIEs and Data Engineers in your team. As part of an entrepreneurial team that is just getting started, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the analytics strategy and driving multi-year roadmaps that align with Amazon Ads's vision.

A successful candidate will have a passion for data and analytics, and experience working with BI/Analytics tools. They should be comfortable accessing and working with data from multiple sources and partnering with internal stakeholders to drive business decisions. They will have deep knowledge of BI solutions, excellent statistical and analytical abilities, and the ability to work with technology, product development, and business teams. They will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and driven by a desire to innovate.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, and dashboards enabling stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.

• Drive data-driven decision-making through compelling narratives that seamlessly integrate data analysis, visualizations, and statistical insights.

• Work with Product Managers in understanding the business requirements and implementing solutions to support product plans

• Conduct ad hoc data analysis and data quality investigations.

• Implement training and documentation solutions that enables stakeholders to get the most out of our self-serve analytics tools.

• Develop and support the analytical technologies that give our customers timely, flexible and structured access to their data.

• Defining, developing and maintaining critical business and operational reports reviewed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

• Analysis of historical data to extract meaningful insights from large and complex data sets to identify trends and support decision making, including written and verbal presentation of results and recommendations

• Collaborating with software development teams to implement analytics systems and data structures to support large-scale data analysis and delivery of machine learning models

• Understanding of Amazon’s data resources, which to use, how, and when

About the team

We are a team of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers.Our space is Amazon's scale 3P Ads measurement. We enable scientists (applied and data), PM-Ts, and economists to invent measurement techniques with high-quality data sets, metrics, and dashboards that enable them to build and evaluate ML models and roll out new measurement techniques at scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional or military experience

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
