We are looking for energetic, entrepreneurial, highly driven employee-owners to support our dynamic Mid-Atlantic team (Chesapeake, Richmond, Arlington) on various water and wastewater projects. You will be responsible for understanding, applying, and designing water and/or sewer pumping and pipeline projects. Projects will consist of new or rehabilitation of existing water and wastewater facilities from planning through construction working as part of a project team to deliver projects according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs. Regular duties include the design of treatment facilities, pump stations, hydraulic profile development, alignment selection studies, design calculations, piping and valve sizing, construction drawing development, specification development, and construction administration tasks.
Job Duties
Perform treatment facility, water and sewer pumping and pipeline designs of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
Research, compile and prepare general equipment, packaged equipment and construction specifications and data sheets.
Prepare Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
Review vendor drawings: data interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers and incorporate into design plans as required to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
Apply knowledge of commonly used design concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the water engineering services industry. Compile studies and reports and write specifications.
Applies knowledge to complex projects and finds and develops non-standard design solutions.
Perform field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for municipal and federal clients.
Prepare, present, and/or participate in technical reports for clients.
Responsible for applying the QA/QC process.
Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program (water or civil curriculum focus preferred)
OR Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Minimum three (3) (four (4) years preferred) of civil engineering experience; design and construction administration of water/wastewater systems preferred.
Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1-year experience.
Successful completion (i.e. passing) FE or EIT preferred.
Professional Engineer license preferred.
CAD/REVIT experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge of standard engineering design techniques and procedures. Understanding of related water transmission mains, water distribution systems, and/or wastewater collection system design preferred.
Strong computer skills and/or hydraulic civil analysis programs.
Experience with permitting waterlines and sewer lines through local, state, and federal regulators preferred.
Trenchless and/or tunneling experience is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong commitment to working in a team environment.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Strong attention to detail and quality control procedures.
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Ability to travel.
