City Of Arvada Applications Systems Administrator in Arvada, Colorado

Position Purpose The City of Arvada promotes Equal Pay for Equal Work. Starting salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range.

Provides a variety of complex technical and/or professional work activities in support of business applications. Undertakes work which requires the understanding of the fundamental principles to support and troubleshoot applications (e.g., Public Safety, finance, courts, Public Works, Utilities, and Golf/Restaurant. Recommends and implements system additions and upgrades as necessary to assure optimum system performance, deliver innovative, reliable, secure and trouble free technology experience to our cust Job Functions / Scope of Authority

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Evaluates newsoftware applications, reviews software updates and identifies those that merit action.

Ensures that the applications are configured to meet service objectives.

Plans the installation and testing of new application versions.

Investigates and coordinates the resolution of potential and actual service problems.

Ensures that operational documentation for each application is fit for purpose and current.

Advises on the correct and effective use of each application.

Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for applications support.

Manages application enhancements to improve business performance.

Advises on application security, licensing, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery needs.

Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures.

Shares responsibilities for ensuring optimal database performance with Database Administrator.

Works with Database Administrator to ensure all files and data storage areas are configured and sized to provide for optimal user access within the parameters of system hardware.

Ensures that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.

Ensures that problems are fully documented within the relevant reporting system(s).

Coordinates the implementation of preventative measures by analyzing patterns and trends.

Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution..

Identifies, evaluates and recommends options and implementing if required.

Collaborates with, and facilitates stakeholder groups.

Develop and support integrations with other applications using appropriate tools.

Travels to and attends team and organizational meetings, training, events and activities and appropriately and professionally represents the department.

Demonstrates a respectful attitude towards customers and coworkers that promotes teamwork, open communication, and effective customer service.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of information technologies and provides expert advice regarding their application.

Actively monitors for, and seeks, opportunities, new methods, trends, capabilities and products for the advancement of the organization.

Clearly articulate, and formally report on potential benefits of suggested change or modifications to systems

Encourages and motivates colleagues to share creative ideas

Assesses, analyzes, develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change.

Follow agreed procedures, identifies, registers and categorizes incidents.

Gathers information to enable incident resolution as appropriate

Customer Service Support: receive and handle requests for service, following agreed procedures, allocates calls as appropriate.

Logs incidents and service requests and maintains relevant records.
