Emerson Cost Accountant in Ash Flat, Arkansas

The position reports to the Plant Controller and is responsible for accumulating, interpreting and reporting manufacturing costs. Assists in the monthly close process and participates in the preparation of manufacturing financial forecasts and budgets. Plays a key role in the annual product costing exercise. IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Cost and activate new purchased and manufactured items, reviewing for data integrity.

  • Assist with the monthly closing process (cost of sales and inventory related journal entries, accruals for plant expenses, allocations, and related reporting requirements).

  • Support in the development of annual frozen standard costs and manufacturing budgets, including standard department labor and overhead rates.

  • Investigate monthly plant variances, reviewing actual vs forecasted expenditures.

  • Provide regular reporting and detailed analysis of plant efficiency data.

  • Review material purchase price variances against the monthly forecasts and inflation models.

  • Provide explanations for plant labor variances and work with the production planning department to keep the shop order WIP balance current and accurate.

  • Supervise inventory valuation and cost of sales mix on an ongoing basis.

  • Owns the plant’s excess and obsolete inventory exposure process

  • Assist with internal audit and reconciliation of the plant’s annual physical inventory.

  • Assist in leading internal controls related to daily inventory accuracy.

  • Allocate all support costs and variances to provide total actual cost of sales by product line.

  • Analyze and report on warranty costs by product line.

  • Assist in the implementation of financial systems, policies, and procedures as required.

  • Other special projects as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE: You understand the meaning and implications of key financial indicators. You ask the right questions to accurately analyze situations. You engage in collaborative planning. You craft feedback loops into work. You adjust communication to fit the audience and the message. You identify the impacts or consequences of situations and escalate to the appropriate channels.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelors of Science /Bachelors of Arts in Accounting, or any related bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years of experience in cost accounting commensurate with the level of the position.

  • Strong communication Skills

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • CMA/CPA preferred.

  • Experience with JDE strongly preferred.
