Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary : Responsible for providing high-quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by HCA Healthcare North Carolina MAMA Medical Director(s). The Flight Paramedic may be responsible for carrying out the mission HCA Healthcare North Carolina MAMA goals, assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.

The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during the transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced life saving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with training and level of certification.

What you will do in this role:

  • Operate emergency medical vehicles and respond to calls for aid in emergent situations.

  • Evaluate the patient's condition to establish the right course of treatment.

  • Provide a variety of emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.

  • Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.

  • Manage non-medical situations such as crowd control and protecting the valuables of a patient if necessary.

  • Lift and transport patients, ensuring patients remain stable during transport.

  • Communicate patient data and conditions to professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facilities.

What qualifications you will need:

Requirements:

Licenses, Certifications, Competencies, Skills, Knowledge, experience, and special qualifications: 1

Associate of Science in EMS or obtain within 3 years of hire date

Minimum 5 years of full-time critical care experience at the Critical Care Paramedic level at a demanding 911 service

Maintains current licensure and certification as a Paramedic in the N.C. Office of Emergency Medical Services and will obtain S.C. before orientation completion

National Registry Paramedic

Maintain BCLS, ACLS, PALS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and advance provider ITLS or PHTLS

Maintain CCEMT-P or CCP-C (FP-C preferred)

Will obtain FP-C within 18 months of hire date. Once FP-C is obtained will replace the need for CCP-C

Must have a valid NC driver’s license

Maintain FEMA 100,200, 700, & 800 11 Must attend 80% of monthly scheduled team meetings

Must attend 100% of quarterly recurrent training (Medical and Safety)

Maintain 1 of the following ATLS, ATLS audit, ATCN, or TPACT (provided course offerings upon hire to complete)

Preferences:

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Previous medical transport experience preferred
