Job Description

You will be responsible for operating sit-down forklifts and overhead cranes to move steel in an indoor/outdoor steel distribution warehouse.

You will also be required to manage a paper-based inventory system and learn various types of steel and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down forklifts and overhead cranes to move steel onto flatbed and LTL trucks.

• Handle inbound and outbound shipments of steel materials.

• Manage inventory using a paper-based system.

• Learn and identify different types of steel and their gauges.

• Perform general labor tasks as required.

• Assist with shipping and receiving processes.

• Load and unload steel materials.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in operating sit-down forklifts and overhead cranes.

• Experience in material handling and inventory management.

• Ability to perform general labor tasks.

• Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes.

• Familiarity with order picking and loading.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a steel distribution warehouse is a plus.

• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment

You will be working in an indoor/outdoor steel distribution warehouse that serves as a central hub between PA and NC sites. The environment is laid back and not fast-paced, providing a comfortable and supportive atmosphere.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, Virginia.

PAY: $18-20/hr.
