Town of Freetown Town Planner in Assonet, Massachusetts
Notice is hereby given that the Personnel Board is seeking applications for the position of Town Planner. This is a full-time position (36 hours); salary will be based on qualifications. Definition The Town Planner provides professional management, oversight, and administration of Town Planning and community development functions, including supervision of infrastructure, capital, and transportation projects, grant writing and implementation, and professional advice and administration to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), Conservation Commission, and related boards and commissions. Recommended Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor\'s degree in planning, community development or public administration or a related field required; Master\'s degree preferred; minimum of three to five years? experience in land use or municipal planning required; two years of supervisory experience preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted. Ability to communicate effectively to employees and the general public verbally and in writing; ability to use software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and GIS software; ability to read plans; organizational and supervisory skills are required; ability to read blueprints is desired. Ability to represent the Planning Board at Town meetings required. Special Requirements Certification as a Planner by the American Institute for Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred. Valid Driver?s license required.
