Job Description

Core Responsibilities
Analyze trends and data, provide executive summaries, and make recommendations for Capital / O&M programs/ projects to improve performance of cable systems.
Apply specifications or job knowledge to develop new ideas or further improve the functionality of existing equipment designs, or procedures.
Develop business cases for programs and projects recommending replacement or maintenance strategies for existing cable assets and systems.
Incorporate safety rules, regulations or code requirements when updating and preparing engineering specifications.
Build relationships with stakeholders to reinforce Engineering guidance and identify opportunities to leverage advanced analytics, dashboard or apps to drive business solutions.
Review procurement bid proposals, prepare technical evaluation reports, or design drawings, as needed.
Reinforce operational excellence when providing guidance to personnel on operational problems. Participate and present at Standards Committee meetings, related Construction/ Business forums, as needed.
Perform root cause of failure analysis of failed equipment to provide engineering recommendations to mitigate recurrences. Document and communicate findings as required.
Assist Electric Operations on assessing system contingency events; compile detailed information; and submit event summary reports or failure analysis.
Represent Con Edison as a subject matter expert or as a Technical Advisor or in the development of industry standards committees (i.e., IEEE, EPRI, AEIC, etc.).

Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree Engineering and minimum of 3 years work experience is required Engineer (2L) or
Master's Degree Engineering and minimum of 2 years work experience is required Engineer (2L)
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) and minimum of 3 years work relate experience is required Engineer (2L)
Relevant Work Experience
Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment and working with Engineers or field personnel standardizing work practices and procedures Required
Engineering experience including technical knowledge of Con Edison's electric network distribution system (i.e., Underground, Overhead, and URD) Required
Reviewing and developing Engineering specifications or procedures Required
Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills Required
Experience reviewing electrical one-line diagrams, schematics or equipment outline drawings outline Required
Experience scheduling and controlling small to moderately complex projects and assignments across different working groups Required
Experience with electrical distribution cables or equipment (Underground) Required
Experience with databases, dashboards, Python or related data analytics tools Required
Familiarity with applicable cable industry standards relating to equipment design, installation, and or clearances Preferred
Familiarity performing root cause failure analysis of failed equipment Preferred
Experience working in analytical software (i.e. CYME/CYMCAP) Preferred
Skills & Ability
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion
Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents
Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills
Licenses & Certifications
- Driver's License Required

Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday

Other Physical Demands
Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
Must be willing and able to travel to company facilities and/or street work locations. Field visits may require use of company vehicle and will require appropriate use of PPE (hard hat, safety harness, safety shoes, flame retardant clothing, etc)
Must be willing and able to don PPE and enter underground manhole or vault, if needed.
