WorkSource Oregon Building Maintnance Technician in Astoria, Oregon

JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, performs daily scheduled building inspections and preventative maintenance efforts throughout all college owned buildings, related systems and equipment, to insure continued safe, functional and productive use of the same. Performs building maintenance and repairs as assigned, to include plumbing, minor electrical, structural, minor mechanical and custodial services and remains available for on-call and emergency services as requested. Provides support services for special events to include event prep set up, tear down, and basic custodial services before and after events as required. Provides for parking control and the daily monitoring and maintenance of all parking areas, monitors campus traffic patterns, provides maintenance and upkeep of exterior lighting systems and working with the Physical Plant Director, provides the general enforcement of all College parking policies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent. One year of previous building maintenance experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties listed in the job description. Preferred Qualification:, Previous experience doing building maintenance duties in an educational setting working around students and staff. Knowledge Required: o Knowledge of basic building maintenance methods and practices. o Knowledge of the safe and productive use of hand and power tools related to the trades. o Basic computer skills sufficient to retrieve, track and monitor work orders and preventative maintenance schedules. Skills Required: o Manual dexterity in the performance of building maintenance and other assigned activities. o Ability to drive between campus sites. o Skill in communications, interpersonal skills sufficient to receive work direction, to work with and coordinate support services for outside contractors and venders, as well as to inform supervisor of problems and/or emergency situations as needed. o Skill in interpersonal communications with employees in other areas of the workplace \' able to minimize distraction of doing duties when other non-maintenance staff are present.
