    Job Summary

    IMI is seeking a full-time Director of Construction local to the Athens, GA area.

    Essential Functions

    The Director of Construction will be responsible for developing and managing the Construction Division of the company and employ practices and personnel to manage the overall execution of industrial construction projects. From concept to completion, the Director of Construction will coordinate estimators, trade-leaders and other roles required to produce safe, quality projects that are strategically planned to ensure all scope items, schedules, budgets and deliverables meet requirements of standards set by ownership.

The Director of Construction will be responsible for developing a team, when necessary, of subordinate Construction Managers to simultaneously perform the duties required of the Construction Division. The Director of Construction will work closely with the Field Services Director, Shop Services General Manager, COO, and executive team to set strategic initiatives and financial, operational, customer and safety growth.

  • Review all potential construction projects with executive team.

  • Collaborate with internal Project Managers, trades-leaders and stakeholders to build strong relationships and support the organization's growth into industrial construction projects.

  • In partnership with other stakeholders, develop framework for successfully executing projects.

  • Ensure effective project and contract management governance, procedures, tool and financial controls are established and maintained.

  • Projects & Construction proficient.

  • Must have knowledge of Construction business models. Ability to understand relationships between cost and revenues while developing tools and strategies that positively impact financial performance of projects.

  • Builds and sustains business relationships, internally and externally, identifying position as team player who shares common goals of peers, executives and client base. Adheres to corporate programs, policies and practices while also bringing insight into changes to common practices.

  • Clearly, articulately, and timely communicate information to all applicable participants. Ability to articulate direction verbally and in writing to stakeholders for appropriate action items.

  • Ensure all projects are performed with the highest regard for safety.

  • Ensure all projects are performed in accordance with the owner's quality standards.

  • Ability to produce conceptual budgets, percentage of contract completion estimates and firm quotes.

  • Ability to develop framework for executing project.

  • Create tools for analyzing performance.

  • Develop tools and implement processes for scheduling, invoicing, submittals, deliverables and progress reports.

  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.

  • Close assigned project with managed review with the customer that validates quality of work and adherence to scope of work.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and 8-10 years of experience in project management.

  • Experience in Construction/Project Management within the industrial sector.

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.

  • Minimum of three year's work experience in a project management capacity.

  • Experience in estimating and managing contracts on T&M, Lump Sum and Firm Fixed Prices.

  • Proven experience in people management and a commitment to industrial safety.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Computer experience, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.

  • Standing or walking for long periods of time.

  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.

  • Must be able to remain in a seated position for long periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard operating equipment.
