Description:

The Director of Imaging and Cardiology Services plans, organizes, directs, and oversees the activities of the Radiology/Imaging, Cardiovascular and Neurodiagnostic, Cardiac Rehab Services lines for the healthcare system which includes, but not limited to, diagnostic radiography, computed tomography, diagnostic ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography and cardio-vascular lab (Vascular lab, echo lab, stress lab and EKG), Cardiac Rehab and neurodiagnostic lab. The Director:

  • Contributes to the efficient operation of the department and promoting St. Mary's Health Care Systems mission and values to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.

  • Cultivates credibility and productive relationships with the medical staff, nursing staff and other St. Mary's constituents including Athens Radiology Associates, Oconee Heart and Vascular Center Cardiologists.

  • Facilitates effective cross-functional project teams for driving improvement processes

  • Drives utilization and business development activities

  • Monitors consistency across the system in regards to imaging, cardiovascular imaging and rehab and neurodiagnostic testing

  • Works with Senior Leadership to develop departmental budgets. Will provide relevant data for decision making

  • Provides strategic insight regarding proposals and how they impact the healthcare system

  • Will be considered a subject matter expert on all matters involving medical imaging and diagnostic testing modalities

  • Develop and maintain a high functioning support team to lead the day-to-day imaging operations across the system.

  • Oversees the radiation safety program and works with the system's radiation safety officer to provide accurate and accessible coverage for radiation exposure incidents.

  • Adheres to the radiation safety guidelines as set forth by the State of Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Qualifications:

Must possess certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) certification is a plus. Other certifications/affiliations with American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Association of Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) are desired, but not required. Minimum requirements of a bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business Administration and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. A master’s degree in healthcare/Business Administration is preferred. Must possess ten (10) years' experience in a full-service radiology department with at least seven (7) years in a departmental management position.

Must be capable of exercising independent judgment based on the knowledge of departmental and hospital policies and procedures demonstrating motivated demeanor utilizing judgment based on sound decision making management processes. Possesses working knowledge of the department’s operations and activities including planning, organizing, staffing, influencing, and coordinating management techniques and a working knowledge of equipment, equipment specification, and technical expertise. Possesses excellent effective oral, written, and communication skills. Demonstrates ability to direct and motivate subordinates to obtain maximum potential and efficiency. Possesses ability to evaluate work performance of staff against measurable and verifiable criteria and to evaluate reports, research studies, and other pertinent data. Accomplishes several tasks simultaneously. Prioritizes use of time management. Adheres to the productivity standards as set forth by Senior Administration
