Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Belonging and Engagement will plan, coordinate, and execute major medical student events for the Office of Inclusion; assist with planning of historically underrepresented student recruitment pipeline programs; and manage and oversee medical education programming such as post-baccalaureate and pre-matriculation. Will serve as a liaison to the Ohio University undergraduate premedical population by serving as co-advisor to two pre-medical student organizations and the OHIO Early Assurance Program Learning Community. Collaborate with the Ohio University Office of Multicultural Success and Retention ( OMSAR ) to explore and develop linkage opportunities for underrepresented students to

attend Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. This position will provide key planning for college-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion programming for the Athens, Dublin, and Cleveland campuses. Additionally, this position will meet with students regularly to aid in their transition to medical school, bias incident support, and more.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Provide management and oversight for all Office of Inclusion programming including but not limited to post-baccalaureate and pre-matriculation students. Serve as a liaison to campus resources and participate as member of multiple university committees. This work includes identifying internal and external stakeholders to teach in the programs/events and for enrichment sessions.

    1. Collaborate with the Chief Inclusion Officer, internal, and external stakeholders to establish programming goals and objectives for special projects and programming. Assist in developing annual reporting and accreditation requirements that includes institutional,

organizational, and curricular goals.

  1. Plan, manage, and oversee specialized and diverse programming by remaining flexible and creatively adapting to address complex, immediate, and/or novel situations. This includes managing complicated bias incident reports and societal unrest response procedures while maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

  2. Create and maintain advising relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions and Native American Serving Institutions to

enhance pre-health advisors’ knowledge of Heritage College programming and

opportunities.

  1. Assist with recruitment from organizations focused on minority or disadvantaged students in the healthcare field and other advisory boards. Additionally, this position will assist with the coordination of med student for a day.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

3 years of related professional experience

1 year of management/supervisory experience

*Equivalent combination of experience/education may be substituted

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience leading pipeline programs

  • Experience with TRIO program

  • Experience coordinating celebratory events

Employment Type: full-time regular

Advertised Salary:

The approved hiring range for this position is $51,281 to $67,947. Offers outside of this range of subject to additional approvals. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position Pay is accompanied by our generous university benefits such as free tuition for self and dependents, a comprehensive insurance package including but not limited to:
