Ohio University Assistant Softball Coach in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

This position reports to the Head Softball Coach. Responsible to the head coach for providing coaching expertise (pitching) and leadership of the intercollegiate athletics program; assisting the head coach in the effective management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes, and other administrative duties.

Primary accountabilities:

  1. Teaching and coaching student-athletes in order to develop and acquire the extensive tactical, technical and physical knowledge required to be a competitive Division I intercollegiate level student-athlete. Responsible for skill instruction during individual and team practices and intercollegiate athletic competitions.

  2. Talent assessment and recruiting. Assists in conducting a successful recruiting program to identify and cultivate outstanding student-athletes to Ohio University.

  3. Assist with the administration of the Softball budget including budget management and team travel arrangements.

  4. Ensure the Softball program is in compliance with NCAA , Mid-American Conference and Ohio University regulations.

Candidate must display the highest of ethical standards, recruit qualified student-athletes and display a commitment to their academic success. Must have the administrative ability to manage daily operation and excellent organizational skills. Candidate must display the highest of ethical standards, recruit qualified student-athletes and display a commitment to their academic success. Working knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and procedures is necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and softball experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Collegiate softball player experience.
