Ohio University Executive Office Administrator in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Executive Office Administrator is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs ( VPSA ). This individual must be able to work smoothly and confidentially in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions and have a high level of emotional intelligence to deescalate high-stakes situations, as well as have a high level of cultural competency to make sure all people’s identities and perspectives are welcomed. This position serves as the primary point of contact for the office and is responsible for positively representing the office/Division. This position is an integral member of the vice president’s team and as such, it is critical that they support and foster a positive work environment where all staff can thrive.

  • Lead the management and operations of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs ( VPSA ). This includes developing and implementing office policies and procedures that enhance efficiency, adhere to confidentiality protocols, and foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment. Focus on proactively identifying and addressing operational challenges, ensuring the office adapts smoothly to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Independently represent the VPSA office, engaging with key campus stakeholders on initiatives, with commitment to policy and confidentiality. Serve as a trusted advisor in communications and meetings, representing the VPSA’s interests and ensuring alignment with the Division’s long-term goals.

  • Oversee and strategically manage the VPSA’s schedule, ensuring alignment with business operations and long-term objectives. This includes evaluating the impact of scheduled activities on the Division’s operational goals and making strategic decisions about meeting participation and agenda-setting to maximize effectiveness.

  • Lead special projects and coordinate communications that support the strategic goals of the Division. This includes not only coordinating logistics and resources but also facilitating the implementation of these initiatives, ensuring they align with the broader mission and goals of the VPSA office.

  • Utilize emotional intelligence to deescalate difficult situations within the office and apply cultural competency to create an inclusive environment that is welcoming and respectful of all identities and perspectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years relevant office management experience, including managing complex scheduling.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, have a history of strong customer service skills, and ability to manage competing projects on tight deadlines.

  • Valid driver’s license – (strongly preferred)

Advertised Salary:

The target pay range is between $21.44 – $24.92 per hour to commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience while considering internal equity.
