Ohio University Online Adjunct Faculty of Interdisciplinary Health Studies (up to 3 positions) in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

The Ohio University Department of Interdisciplinary Health Studies, in the College of Health Sciences and Professions, invites applications for an online adjunct instructor. We are seeking two to three adjuncts based on the experience and background of applicants.

The Department of Interdisciplinary Health Studies is seeking a student-centered, innovative adjunct faculty member with experience in online course development/design and teaching. The ideal candidate will have background and experience in implementation of health policy in healthcare to best equip them to teach one or more of the following courses. One adjunct will be a mentor to graduate students in the Master of Integrated Health Studies ( MIHS ) degree as the certificate “expert”. Students in the MIHS select their impact project mentor.

· IHS 5300: Fundamental Health Policy: Concepts, Components and Systems Exploring health policy from a systematic approach; linking public health and healthcare issues to policy processes. Examination of policy formation, individuals, organizations, and systems involved in this processes, in relation to various issues in population health, health promotion, and healthcare delivery.

· IHS 5301: The Health Policy-Making Process Elaborating on the processes required for health policy making from conception to evaluation. Emphasizing the contrast of roles, perceptions of, and impact on individuals versus organizations; with a vested interest in the policy positions.

· IHS 5302: Health Policy: Current Issues, Trends, and Emerging Topics. Current issues in local, state and national health policy are presented. The emphasis of this class is the analysis and evaluation of current trends and emerging topics in health policy.

· IHS 6280 Integrated Health Studies Capstone-this course provides students with the opportunity to reflect on and synthesize the knowledge they have obtained throughout the Master of Integrated Health Studies in a way that is both meaningful and relevant to their professional goals. In doing so, students develop an impact project that includes ideas pertaining to interprofessional healthcare and integration of major concepts from core coursework and areas of concentration. In this course you would be the mentor for the students as they finish their capstone.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree conferred by start date in a related field.

Online learning as a student and/or teaching experience in health policy courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with implementing health policy in healthcare or health science research.

Online course development and instruction in Canvas

At least 3 years of experience teaching online (preferably Canvas) to both traditional and non-traditional students in either an academic institution or in other applicable venues of education (conferences, work related, etc.). This can be as the instructor of record, graduate assistant, or teaching assistant, or instruction of related content in another venue of education.

Doctoral degree related to healthcare or health policy.

Excellent communication and understanding of various learning styles.
