Job Description


Safe-Guard is the leading provider of automotive warranties in North America, providing warranties to a wide variety of clients including: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, GM, and many more. As part of our suite of services, Safe-Guard sets up and administers dealer-owned off-shore reinsurance entities on behalf of dealers interested in taking insurance risk. These entities are called CFCs (Controlled Foreign Corporations).

The Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst coming into this role will support these CFCs by:

  • Performing regular actuarial reviews of CFC surplus positions.

  • Analyzing loss ratios and taking action to rectify underperformance when required.

  • Coordinate with Safe-Guard's Reinsurance team to communicate business results to CFC owners.

  • Manage reinsurance earnings curves

This role will report to Safe-Guard's Senior Director of Actuarial Reserving and collaborate significantly with the Reinsurance, Reinsurance Accounting, Actuarial Pricing, and Safe-Guard's Actuarial Reserving teams.


  • Calculate CFC profitability and recommend rate action where appropriate.

  • Determine CFC minimum required reserves to ensure these entities retain sufficient surplus.

  • Collaborate with Actuarial Pricing and Reserving to stay up-to-date on market conditions and macro trends.

  • Communicate findings to CFC owners when appropriate.

Skills and Requirements

  • 4-5 years of actuarial experience

  • Successful completion of three or more actuarial exams

  • Experience working in SQL

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong communication skills as this position will be client facing

Job Qualification:

  • B.S. or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent null
