Location: Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas

As part of our Americas Tax Technology Group (ATTG) you will be part of a technology organization that develops and maintains innovative solutions for our client-serving Tax professionals. ATTG professionals will partner with our Tax professionals to develop supporting technology such as digital/mobile tools to improve internal operations, application of Artificial Intelligence in Tax, to collect financial data, development of advanced financial dashboards, visualization, analytics, and reports.

The Product Owner role is in the Technology Enablement pillar. The relationship management function of this pillar is to serve as the primary interface between the tax business leadership and IT. This role will also closely coordinate and collaborate with Solution Delivery pillar as some of the essential functions align to a Development Manager role.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Manage all aspects of development, including estimating levels of effort, staffing, performance management, and driving the adoption of development patterns and practices across product teams.

  • Lead development teams to manage the design, planning, building, and support of products, ensuring compliance with established standards and policies, and coordinating with internal teams such as DevOps, Architecture, and InfoSec.

  • Oversee product delivery, maintenance, and escalated technical support, including urgent response to production issues, vendor management, and the creation of architecture artifacts and technical documentation

  • Partially responsible for annual planning based on roadmaps and the development of business cases in support of the governance process

  • Help coordinate activities at all levels of the organization on issues and matters related to the products, including managing relationships with ATTG business sponsors, Tax Sub-Service Lines, Tax Technology & Transformation (TTT) Leadership and vendors, if necessary, to facilitate smooth development and implementation of products

  • Direct the creation, then continual upgrading of EY SAP related solutions, procedures and operating environments to develop and maintain SAP, SAC and other applications EY takes to the dynamic SAP client marketplace.

  • Develop annual budgets and manage expenditures in order to operate within approved budget guidelines

  • Provides field communications regarding planned or unplanned production issues

  • Coordinates or delivers of training to TTT client service professional team members on all new releases and updates to the application

  • Formulates test plans and strategies to coordinate/execute user acceptance testing

  • Provides the necessary leadership and guidance to help team members understand focus area strategies and knowledge needs

  • Accountable for the alignment of product development with firm policies and standards, creating and maintaining technical roadmaps, and discovering opportunities for reuse within and across portfolios.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Ability to clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions

  • Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and options, and where appropriate, leading to resolution

  • Ability to prioritize personal and team workloads to best meet organizational objectives

  • Empowered to make decisions and recommend approach based on the results from quality reviews.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience developing bolt-on applications to SAP above and around a Clean Core

  • Specific experience with SAP Analytics cloud and other areas of bolt-on solutions including but not limited to Advanced Analytics, Data migration and integration, industry specific applications, process automation and optimization and performance and security applications.

  • Exceptional communication skills including client facing experience of sales and delivery

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Detail orientation

  • Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle

  • Ability to understand and learn tax law, financial requirements and technology implications at a high level

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills as well as the ability to multitask on various projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work and team effectively with clients and high-level leadership personnel as well as influence all team members

  • Experience managing vendors and service providers in order to meet business and company goals.

  • Experience with managing teams, onshore, remote and offshore teams to work towards development best practices.

  • Experience in technical design development and review, with the ability to provide insight, guidance and review at all levels from architecture to design and code.

  • Tax domain knowledge preferred

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and direction to team members and staff including many in India, Argentina and other Off shore and near shore locations

  • Delegate, coach, coordinate and lead co-workers and project team members.

  • Leads a functional team with responsibility for utilization, assignments, and reports to a pillar leader

  • Responsible for training and standards for functional team performance

  • Has direct responsibility for supervising personnel, (i.e., sets goals, assigns work, reviews performance, and conducts career development discussions)

Other Requirements:

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree (computer science, engineering, accounting, finance preferred) or equivalent work experience.

  • Master's degree preferred

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience

  • Management experience a plus

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $100,700 to $291,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $120,800 to $331,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
