Business Unit Overview:

The Technology Controls Reporting (“TCR”) team, as a part of Finance controls, performs Information Technology General Control (“ITGC”) SOX404 testing activities on behalf of BlackRock management. On a regular basis, the TCR team provides status updates and discusses SOX404 and Service Organization Reporting (SSAE18/ISAE 3402) related topics with senior management. The TCR team also works closely with other risk and control disciplines, such as Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management (including Operational and Technology Risk). These individuals actively work with the business (including relationship management, portfolio management, business operations, legal and compliance, and technology personnel), as well as the external service auditors.

BlackRock Finance function consists of professionals in disciplines such as Controllers, Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”), Treasury, Tax, Finance Controls, Sourcing and Vendor Management, and Management Information Initiatives. Finance Controls is a global team with a presence in New York, Princeton (New Jersey), Edinburgh and Budapest.

Job Purpose/Background:

A successful candidate will develop strong relationships across BlackRock, develop a strong understanding of internal controls, deliver value-added services and recommendations to strengthen the risk and control environment, and develop a broad understanding of the IT products and services offered by the Firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand internal SOX404 requirements and assist the IT teams in maintaining processes and functions to help ensure compliance with such requirements

  • Support the execution of the Company’s global SOX404 program including IT risk scoping, segregation of duties analysis, testing of IT general controls, key reports, remediation, and reporting to key stakeholders across the company.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day follow-up with service auditors during their fieldwork to ensure projected timelines are met

  • Work with the technology stakeholders and external service auditors to enhance SOR content, update report details and provide relevant documentation to the service auditors

  • Support the implementation of a coordinated approach by participating in walkthroughs with technology executives, recommending potential control enhancements and conducting follow-up in preparation for the annual service organization report/SOX404 reviews

  • Demonstrate knowledge of professional IT standards/practices and apply knowledge in performing work

  • Assist in the oversight and coordination for delivery of service organization reports globally

  • Coordinate activities with other risk and control functions

  • Effectively communicate both internally and externally to build positive relationships and understand key aspects of services provided to clients

  • Assist other individuals within the control function, including Financial Controls Reporting and Service Organization Reporting

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, Accounting or a related field

  • Professional qualification preferred (e.g., CPA, CISA, CISSP) or in-progress

  • 3 – 5 years of prior IT audit experience

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word)
