Develop and strengthen our financial processes

The opportunity:

Flexport helps more than 10,000 clients and suppliers lead all aspects of their supply chain operations. Each of these customers faces significant working capital burdens that hamper their ability to grow their businesses. Over the past two years, Flexport Capital has provided over $1.7 billion in loans to Flexport customers to address these needs, and we’re just getting started. As a start-up within a start-up, we are growing while building the foundations for long-term success, and having fun while doing it.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, operations-focused, and customer-focused individual to join our tight-knit team. They will serve as a key member on our operations team and will assist on all daily operational tasks as well as execute projects related to process improvements, reporting and strategic planning. Due to the quickly growing nature of the Flexport Capital business, they will also have a key role leading and executing cross-functional strategic projects related to process and product improvement, strategy and planning. The ideal candidate will be excited to roll up their sleeves and fill the gap where needed, while being bold enough to initiate change and have the candor to speak their minds to help drive innovation in the exciting world of trade finance.

This is a 6 month contract role, with opportunity for full time conversion.

You will:

  • Help manage day to day operations and service delivery for Flexport Capital clients.

  • Provide Ad hoc reporting for clients as needed

  • Develop and drive innovative ways to scale and improve operational processes.

  • Assist in structuring and implementing operational processes for new products and services.

  • Support strategic projects including product, sales and external financing partnerships

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance and sales to ensure efficient operational execution and quality customer service.

  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis requested by Flexport stakeholders

  • Shadow credit and portfolio teams within Flexport Capital to learn about our business and the lending industry.

You should have:

  • 2+ years of experience in an operations role at a tech startup, consumer/retail or logistics/supply chain company

  • Interest in Finance or previous Finance experience preferred.

  • Excitement to get your hands dirty in a learn by doing environment.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, balancing both accuracy and efficiency

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

  • Strong technical skills – Excel preferred.

  • Desire to take full ownership of deliverables and be accountable for results.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes typical of a start-up

  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
