Jacobs Civil Engineering Professional Entry Level in Atlanta, Georgia

Signal retiming using traffic analysis tools such as synchro and vissim. Conducting traffic engineering and transportation planning studies. Signal design on MicroStation/CADD.

Traffic analysis: Traffic volume forecasting; Safety improvement studies; Microsimulation;

Traffic studies: traffic impact studies, parking studies, signal warrant studies; Studies to determine alternative design ideas for roadway alignments, interchanges and roundabouts. Traffic signal operations: Signal timing: development, optimization and implementation of timing models; Active traffic management; Signal and corridor performance analytics; Asset management; Timing evaluations; Ramp metering; Traffic signal design: Develops drawings for signal design, signal upgrade, signing and marking and its design projects; Performs calculations for a variety of projects, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment; Reviews drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and engineers then recommends necessary changes; Researches code issues and works with city, state, and county officials; Researches design options and documents findings for project engineers and/or project managers; Provides project cost estimating; Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group; Attends design review meetings and interact with clients as his or her level of experience progresses. Developing maps and other graphics using ARCGIS. Analyzing crash data, signal data, vehicle probe data, traffic count data and other large datasets using tools such as tableau and power BI.

Telecommuting is allowed.

TRAVEL: 10% domestic travel for data collection, client meetings and field work.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 2 years of work experience in job offered or related occupation in traffic signal operations.

SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge of: Traffic signal retiming: experience in traffic signal retiming - developing, implementing, fine tuning and maintaining traffic signal timing plans for isolated and coordinated systems. Design: plans and specifications for traffic signal systems, isolated traffic signals, intersection geometric improvements, and highway signing and marking projects. ITS systems planning and design, and fiber optic cables in traffic-related systems. Traffic studies: safety studies, intersection operations studies, traffic impact studies, interstate operation studies, traffic signal timing studies, traffic signal removal studies, parking analysis, bicycle and pedestrian studies, and signal warrant studies. Signals design and signal retiming. Report writing. Microstation/AutoCAD Microsoft Office software.
