WSP USA Cultural Resources Specialist, Part-Time in Atlanta, Georgia

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Cultural Resources Specialist, Part-Time with the potential to work out of any WSP office including Sacramento, CA; Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA or Chicago, IL .

Be involved in projects with our Federal Programs Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

This individual would be part of an interdisciplinary team that supports clients with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, federal-level review of technical reports and management plans, and analysis of compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Your Impact

  • Providing project managers and clients with subject matter expertise regarding cultural resource laws and planning.

  • Review of cultural resources study plans and subsequent reports for archaeological resources, historic structures, and properties of traditional importance to tribes.

  • Review of project-related effects on historic properties and unevaluated cultural resources and proposed measures to resolve effects (e.g. historic properties management plans).

  • Coordinating with agency cultural resource counterparts and tribal members regarding proposed project activities and impacts.

  • Preparation of cultural resources analysis related to Environmental Impact Statement / Environmental Assessment documents.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Your Impact

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or historic preservation.

  • 5+ years’ experience years of relevant experience with NEPA compliance, cultural resources, and environmental technical report writing.

  • This position will primarily be an office position with limited field work.

  • There will be periodic travel (estimated between 5-10%) with the potential for overnight stays.

  • This position requires excellent communication, technical, and writing skills; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Excellent organization and time-management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High-level knowledge of federal environmental laws and their implementing regulations, including, but not limited to: National Environmental Policy Act, Antiquities Act, National Historic Preservation Act and Executive Orders related to Tribal consultation and traditional knowledge.

  • Knowledge of issues related to tribal trust resources.

  • Knowledge of current issues and processes related to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, including but not limited to hydroelectric project licensing, relicensing, and license decommissioning.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $72,800 – 123,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $72,800 - $119,570

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
