Job Purpose and Impact

The Cargill Corporation Enterprise Architecture Director is a visionary thinker grounded with hands-on experience who will set the global Architecture vision, strategy and operating model, including charter, organization structure, competencies, tools and templates, and performance measures for a team of Enterprise, Portfolio and Domain architects who work across the Cargill ecosystem of multiple Enterprises and Functions. You will provide architectural leadership to ensure alignment to a well-defined future state architecture and regularly updated Cargill wide maturity roadmap. You will also drive the creation of and alignment to the long-term technology vision based on Cargill objectives taking into consideration the legacy constraints while unlocking new business capabilities and provide technology guidance and insights to the Digital Technology and Data (DT&D) senior leadership team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive DT&D strategic planning components associated with the technology architecture for Cargill, including insights into emerging technologies and assist with the selection and integration of highly effective, cost-conscious, value adding solutions for internal partners and external customers.

  • Focus on collaboration and complex stakeholder management to ensure the establishment of cross team initiatives to bring improvement to the Enterprise/Portfolio/Domain Architecture practice and will define strategies for inception, utilization and retirement of capabilities and technologies across the Cargill ecosystem.

  • Review and approve more complex projects as a key review team member and leader.

  • Significantly contribute to the direction, road map and standards for functional, process and technical solutions.

  • You will provide strategic leadership, development and talent management for direct reports and their organization, which may include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also coordinate subordinate managers and supervisors in selecting staff to align with current and future needs of the organization.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, five years of supervisory experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ten (10) years of experience running a mature, large scale Architecture practice, preferably in the Agriculture, Finance or Trading industry.

  • Full project and software life-cycle implementation experience

  • Proven experience designing and implementing N-tiered application architectures.

  • Experience with market research and innovation

  • Must be well versed in Enterprise and Service Oriented Architecture, and BPM/Workflow technologies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of technology project management, business planning, application systems support, database administration, end user support functions, security engineering, network and server infrastructure and telecommunication platforms

  • Expertise with multiple technology platforms including cloud computing

  • Experience integrating complex vendor system environments

  • Ability to drive consistent standards for technical and design documentation

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; strategic thinker, technology visionary
