Aerotek Forklift Mechanic / Forklift Technician in Atlanta, Georgia

We are currently hiring for a Forklift Mechanic or Forklift Technician. We are actively interviewing for this role and hiring for a day shift role. The Forklift Truck Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of forklift trucks to ensure their safe and efficient operation. They play a crucial role in ensuring that forklift trucks are in proper working condition, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity. This role requires excellent mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues.

Shifts: Day Shift : Monday - Friday

Forklift Truck Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, lubrications, and preventive maintenance on forklift trucks to ensure optimal performance and extend their lifespan. This includes checking fluid levels, changing filters, replacing worn-out parts, and cleaning components.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues: Troubleshoot and identify problems with forklift trucks, such as engine malfunctions, electrical system failures, hydraulic system leaks, and brake issues. Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to determine the root cause of the problem and perform necessary repairs.

  • Conduct inspections and safety checks: Inspect forklift trucks for safety compliance, including checking for any damaged or worn-out parts, ensuring proper functioning of safety features, and verifying that all systems are operational. Document and report any safety concerns or non-compliance issues.

  • Maintain accurate records: Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed on each forklift truck. This includes logging completed repairs, parts used, and any recommendations for future maintenance or repairs. Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and supplies.

  • Respond to breakdowns and emergencies: Act promptly to address breakdowns or emergency situations involving forklift trucks. Prioritize repairs based on urgency and impact on operations. Perform on-site repairs or coordinate with other teams or external service providers, if necessary.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulations: Keep abreast of new technologies, industry standards, and safety regulations related to forklift trucks. Continuously improve knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.

Forklift Truck Mechanic Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude: Possess a deep understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues in forklift trucks.

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently, using logical and systematic approaches.

  • Attention to detail: Must have a keen eye for detail to perform thorough inspections, identify potential issues, and ensure accuracy in repairs and maintenance work.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems: Familiarity with electrical components and systems in forklift trucks, including wiring, batteries, and control panels.

  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment: Ability to use diagnostic tools, instruments, and computer software for troubleshooting and identifying faults.
