The opportunity:

The HR Program Specialist will be a part of the Program Office team, and working closely with program managers, will play a key role in the planning, implementation, support and communication of key programs and initiatives. This role will be responsible for the administration of HR policies, procedures, and processes such as tuition reimbursement, workforce actions, employment notices and discrete projects. The HR Program Specialist will also respond to questions raised by the HR community, and periodically with managers and team members. This role will require process, systems and planning skill sets, a strong customer service mindset and consultative capabilities.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Works closely with HR program managers to plan, coordinate and implement people programs and processes, such as workforce initiatives, tuition reimbursement, acquisitions and divestitures, and discrete projects - ensuring consistent support and program application.

  • Directly ensures the implementation of state and country employment notice requirements.

  • Serves on project teams for key initiatives, defining efficient and effective processes, tools, training, and communications, and change management.

  • Coordinates with external vendors to ensure seamless delivery of services in line with program expectations.

  • Responds to inquiries (service tickets, calls, emails) regarding the programs and initiatives supported by the Team Member Services team to ensure accurate, timely and consistent response – leveraging technology and automated tools.

  • Produces program reporting and analytics to provide program team and HR functional leaders with insight into the effectiveness of the programs and areas of improvement.

  • Gains knowledge and expertise of the HR programs, processes and services supported by the Team Member Services team.

  • Leverages six sigma tools/techniques to propose process improvements to ensure best in class support and operations.

  • Ensures standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are being followed and non-compliant items are escalated as appropriate.

  • Delivers services in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs)

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline is preferred.

  • 5+ years of professional HR (field, corporate and/or COE) experience in a fast-paced environment. Exposure to global businesses preferred.

  • Good project planning and process skills.

  • Strong customer service mindset with good communication skills.

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, with an attention to detail.

  • Collaborative and team player.

  • Demonstrates good judgement and maintains confidentiality.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities.

  • Advanced computer skills to include the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); other HR systems experience, preferred.
