Guardian Life IM Underwriting Research Associate in Atlanta, Georgia

As the IM Underwriting Research Associate, you will be at the forefront of new innovations deployed within the Life and DI underwriting practice. You will partner with actuarial, systems specialists, and other underwriting expertise to develop an underwriting quality control ecosystem providing insights into mortality and morbidity. You will demonstrate underwriting system improvements to the broader underwriting production teams and work with underwriters to effectively manage defect/enhancement deployment.

You have

• 3 - 5 years of life or disability underwriting experience.

• Knowledge of life and/or disability insurance underwriting processes and procedures.

• Agile experience and able to work in JIRA.

• Moderate project management experience.

• Effective communicator (written and verbal).

• Proficient in MS Excel and able to perform basic exploratory data analysis techniques.

You will

• Contribute to the underwriting quality control/assurance ecosystem by executing post-issue risk assessments and random hold-out underwriting assessments.

• Perform user acceptance testing from the business perspective ensuring usability and efficiency is at the core of our enhancement deployment strategy.

• Administer protective value study framework and contribute to cost-benefit analysis discussions.

o Engagement with life and disability on proposed policy adjustments based on protective value study findings.

o Deliver underwriting opinion on change implications to leadership.

• Perform research and development support for underwriting, having a clear understanding of the underwriting industry with its inherent challenges/opportunities.

Location/Travel

Remote (Flex), position may require occasional travel to Guardian main sites or industry conferences.

Salary Range

$66,130.00 - $108,640.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
