Delta Air Lines has an opportunity for a Senior Developer to work on its mainframe software application development for the travel, airline and reservation industry. In a dynamic, fast paced environment the IBM zTPF operating system is the central hub for all operations of Delta Air lines, and with your technical experience and ability to engage customers you can help contribute to the ongoing transformation.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE

  • Responsiblefor participating in the development, maintenance, enhancement, andsupport of applications

  • Understandbusiness requirements in order to provide the technical design of computersoftware

  • Possessprogramming expertise in C++, BAL, and Sabretalk for the zTPF environmentin order to develop and maintain computer software

  • Developappropriate software and documentation according to Delta standards

  • Supportand troubleshoot computer systems as required, optimizing performance,resolving problems, and providing timely follow up on all problems

  • FollowDelta standards and methodologies in the development and implementation ofcomputer software. Must be able toperform our entire software development lifecycle

  • Works/Consultsacross multiple projects; functions as an informal leader

  • Workson complex projects that require subject matter expertise

  • Responsiblefor providing hands on expert level assistance to junior developers fortechnical issues.

  • Practicessafety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Workingexperience and knowledge of TPFDF and ZTPFGI/test/debug

  • Knowledgeof escalation methods and effective communication with our development andtesting resources for issues and new enhancements.

  • Becomfortable interfacing and engaging with customers, defining theirrequirements and effectively translating their needs to business andtechnical documents, maximizing customer satisfaction

  • Excellentanalytical, technology, communication, decision making and problem solvingskills

  • Workingknowledge of Delta’s TPF test environments and the interaction with therest of the IT landscape.

  • Experienceleading/mentoring junior developers

  • Organizedwith an ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and utilize timeeffectively

  • Musthave the ability to transform business and functional requirements intotechnical solutions

  • 5or more years of experience working in TPF Airline Reservations and/or TPFAirline Operations application development.

  • Mustbe proficient in Error/Dump Analysis

  • HighSchool Diploma, GED or High School Equivalency

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Ideallyyou will have a background in the Airline industry

  • Mustbe able to prioritize work on multiple project teams, with the overallgoal of satisfying all deployment needs and effectively supporting diverseclients

  • Attend meetings with the tool providers andcommunicate effectively with our tool providers

  • Perform quality tests of newly released toolenhancements and interact with tool providers with suggestions. Effectivelycommunicate any issues during quality testing

  • Familiarity with Delta Change Policies andintegration of DevOps to the RFC process

  • Bepassionate about high quality software delivery

  • Assistin delivering constant improvement to business processes

  • Assistin improvement and streamlining of Delta’s development processes

  • DeltaAir Lines develops both strategic and tactical plans that create asafety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being.

  • Bachelor’sDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems or anyequivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training in theTPF application development field. Previous airline experience ideal.
