MISSION / SUMMARY:

Directs workflow of the Graphic Packaging Logistics Team to ensure the timely delivery of product, based on exception processing of outbound and inbound loads using the corporate Transportation Management System (TMS) for carrier selection (based on cost, service, and level of commitment), and accessorial processing. The Logistics Lead will also be proactively managing escalations from the Logistics Specialists team, overseeing their training and assisting Manager with resource allocation and planning.

JOB FUNCTIONS : Job functions include but are not limited to the following .

  • Support Graphic Packaging Logistics Analysts in the execution of transportation related activities.

  • Collaborates with mills and warehouses, customer service and carriers to ensure shipment execution goes to plan. This can be in a form of leading calls with the stakeholders to hold accountability, drive priorities and building relationships with suppliers for a common goal.

  • Effectively communicate through reporting and data operational constraints and opportunities to improve shipment execution hold suppliers accountable for service levels.

  • Has knowledge of expedites, recoveries and handling operational escalated issues to mitigate operational barriers to on time delivery.

  • Hyper focused on no shipment left behind; works on recoveries and pickups to ensure no shipments are missed.

  • Cost conscious and understands transportation rates across all modes; primary focus Truckload and Expedites.

  • Responsible for training and cross-training of Logistics Analysts on GPI/LCC processes, policies and procedures to conform with external/internal audit guidelines and ensure SOX compliance.

  • Assist Manager with balancing team workload according to Business Unit and GPI Location needs.

  • Utilize reports to monitor specialists daily, weekly, and monthly processes.

  • Responsible for developing, in conjunction with Manager, the shipment and exception processing coverage plan by, and across team operating regions, to address load planning gaps, after-hours, and/or out of office support.

  • Manage IB and OB shipments ensuring all loads are covered, timely accessorial processing, and troubleshoot & resolve shipping issues with internal and external parties. Once exhausted, escalate to Manager.

  • Ensure TMS ERP systems portray updated and accurate information, by updating shipment level changes in a timely manner.

  • Monitor Transportation OTIF daily. Conduct root cause, corrective actions with transportation suppliers and work directly with plants/warehouses to provide solutions service issues.

  • Track and Trace shipments and provide pre-notifications on shipment status to internal and external customers.

  • Solicit, negotiate, and award spot quoted loads to meet or exceed the logistics cost/ton by BU goal according to department guidelines, procedures, and approval processes.

  • Proactively provide suggestions to Manager to improve internal & external processes to automate workload, advance carrier performance, reduce issues to GPI end customers, improve GPI shipping, etc.

  • In conjunction with the Logistics Operations managers, Logistics Sourcing Managers, Support team, and Analytics team, work with internal and external parties to bring issues to complete resolution or handover.

  • Provide assistance on shipping issues to customer service groups, sales and marketing personnel, plant purchasing, and plant shipping personnel.

  • Actively maintain individual metrics that support individual, department and company goals – a focus on On-Time Pickup and On-Time Delivery of carriers, Cost, and Service.

  • Assist with other Transportation Operations related tasks/projects as needed.

  • Manage employee performance of direct reports and complete semi-annual performance appraisals, including appropriate constructive feedback, incentive and recognition, according to corporate policy.

  • Ensure all Human Resource policies and guidelines for direct/indirect reports are implemented and followed according to corporate policy. Promote educational opportunities to associates in support of GPI philosophies and core values to ensure quality to customers and to provide a rewarding and professional working environment for associates.

  • Ensure adherence to all relative GPI policies & procedures.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years Transportation Specialist/Planner utilizing a TMS to manage shipments and transportation operations or logistics experience, (MercuryGate preferred).

  • Proven ability to lead and direct a team of 2 or more personnel.

  • Paper manufacturing industry experience (plus) and systems (SAP preferred)

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Advanced computer skills including a moderate understanding of ERP and TMS application integrations (e.g., SAP, JDE, Panther, MercuryGate, Furnished Tracking, etc.), and hands-on experience with other analytical software tools.

Pay Range: $76,860.00 - $102,480.00
