PulteGroup NSS Staff Accountant I in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary:

The NSS Senior Accountant I facilitates Division/Area level accounting activities within the NSS General Ledger Team, including financial and cost accounting functions.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitates accurate, timely and efficient month-end close process for up to two Divisions/Areas.

  • Manages NSS Queue Mailbox (HUDs, cancellations, various cash support) to ensure timely task completion.

  • Executes delivery of timely and accurate financial information to Division, Area and Home Office personnel.

  • Prepares and verifies the accuracy of monthly journal entries, including inter-company entries.

  • Performs balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Facilitates or reviews fixed asset additions, disposals and transfers.

  • Reviews house cost sheets and house closing journal entries.

  • Reviews Staff Accountant journal entries, account reconciliations and closed house risk mitigation variance explanations.

  • Facilitates a review of contingent job cost, working with Division Construction and Purchasing personnel.

  • Prepares Hotel and Sales & Use Tax Returns and facilitates tax payment.

  • Facilitates in-house commissions payout and reporting.

  • Provides financial information to the NSS Controller related to internal and external audit requests.

  • Participates in the NSS’ self-audit program (Quality Assurance Program).

  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts within the NSS General Ledger Team, and the collective NSS Department.

  • Participates in the Records Retention process for the NSS General Ledger Team.

  • Attends required development training sessions as assigned throughout the year.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3+ years of accounting or finance experience

Required Licensing, Registration and/or Certifications

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and practice

  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Advanced Excel skills
