Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.
In this unique engineering position as a Power Harvest Electrical Engineer, you will join a diverse and highly energetic team of professional Subject Matter Experts to optimize, innovate, and deliver datacenter power harvesting and optimization solutions through cutting edge engineering techniques, AI Modeling, innovative feasibility assessment, statistical analysis and more. This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C.
Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to (50)%.

Responsibilities
The candidate will directly support the Datacenter Engineering (DCE), Global Strategy Team.
Duties to include, but not be limited to the following:
Perform detailed analysis of datacenter Space, Power, Cooling and Network, (SPCN) assessment to identify power harvesting opportunities.
Collaborate with Power Harvesting IUE program managers and Datacenter Operations engineers and PMs to develop site specific Power Harvesting and Optimization strategy and Plans of Execution, (POE).
Develop datacenter deployment layout for both Commercial Could and GPU at the datacenter rack level.
Develop creative and innovative solutions to optimize and utilize stranded capacity while keeping all customer services secure.
Seek emerging and initiative-taking opportunities to optimize Microsoft’s installed capacity and increase revenues for the business.
Develop engineering models for capacity recovery, stranded reduction, and “failover” analysis.
Leverage innovative automation solutions to enhance engineering modeling and streamline engineering processes.
Work with Global Capacity Planning teams to mitigate capacity gaps with innovative approaches.
Align with project execution teams to ensure all work is planned and executed without impact on Microsoft’s Critical Environment.
Initiate cross-functional partnerships within the global engineering groups to jointly deliver additional cloud capacity.
Develop and follow published organizational and business processes and procedures.
Initiate, understand, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Partner with peer organizations in evaluating and selecting appropriate datacenter Power Harvesting and optimization opportunities in support of changing demand and varied complex conditions.
Be point person responsible for assessing datacenter Space, Power, Cooling and Network, (SPCN) while always ensuring customer load is prioritized.
Understand datacenter network growth strategies, site design constraints, regional limitations, and business plans.
Be able to communicate technical issues, risks, mitigations, assumptions, and constraints to propose solutions in a clear, and concise manner for the consumption of non-technical audiences.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
5 years’ experience in electrical engineering, operation of hyperscale datacenters or similar large scale and complex engineering systems
2 years' experience supporting and or managing major projects Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements arerequired for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed professional engineer.
Established understanding of electrical & cooling theory with practical application.
Experienced and knowledgeable in data center design, operation and fit out.
Understanding of datacenter design and operation with ability to assess “failover” modes.
Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings, etc.)
Analytical and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of automated workflow processes and solutions.
Effective interpersonal skills with ability to lead and be proactive.
Excellent problem-solving, judgment, team building, and decision-making skills
Experience with existing datacenter designs, redundancy, and form factors.
Python coding experience for developing model solutions.
Practical experience with building automation and electrical power monitoring systems
Ability to use Kusto Query for statistical data analysis.
Experience with PowerBi
Process workflow automation experience.
Ability to present using the MS Office Suite, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, Visio, Bluebeam Revu.Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
