Position Summary

The Student Health and Wellness Registered Nurse provides basic health care services, health and wellness education and support services for campus related health issues and concerns.

Under direction, the Nurse provides nursing care and health services including testing, nursing assessment and first aid to students. This position is responsible for disseminating health services information and providing specialized assistance and counseling regarding individual health needs.

PHYSICAL EFFORT :

The physical efforts described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this class. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Primarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending and stooping; occasional light lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Primarily business office environment; frequent exposure to hazardous materials such as blood-borne pathogens, bacteria, viruses, solvents, and other toxic chemicals and substances that require the use of personal protection equipment including gloves or clothing; subject to frequent public contact and interruption; intermittent exposure to individuals acting in a disagreeable fashion; may work at any location or authorized facility with occasional evenings and/or weekends on an as-needed basis. Occasional local travel may be requested.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Associate of Science in Nursing is required

  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.

    LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

  • A current Georgia Registered Nurse’s license.

  • CPR / AED card for healthcare providers. Course must meet American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.

  • Experience in an educational institution is preferred

  • Georgia Public Health Nurse Certification

  • Two (2) years of professional nursing experience as a Floor/Career Nurse.

  • Extensive knowledge of clinical aspects of healthcare delivery and administrative policies and procedures.

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
