Job Description:

  • The Manager, Strategic Sourcing will report to the Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing and be based in Atlanta, GA. They will be responsible for Sourced Finished Goods procurement supporting the Coleman Burning Appliance and Kitchen Essential product categories within Newell Brands’ Outdoor and Recreation business. They will develop, implement, and drive strategies that deliver a competitive advantage, productivity gains, lead-time reductions, in-bound service level improvement, and supplier quality goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for $30MM - $50MM in spend across Sourced Finished Goods

  • Conduct research and analyze international supply marketplace, maintain working knowledge of international business trends including global industry issues, cost drivers, global pricing, global market/trade conditions, and economic indicators.

  • Support business unit NPD pipeline to deliver on time, on cost, and on spec products.

  • Partner with cross functional teams to enable efficient project execution on Tariff Mitigation.

  • Create, define, and implement sourcing strategy, including supplier selection, for area of responsibility to ensure business needs are met.

  • Manage and drive continuous improvement metrics such as cost productivity, working capital, geographic supply diversification, and single source reliance.

  • Build a robust annual productivity pipeline that supports the aligned business strategy and delivers annual YOY savings through, but not limited to, category bids, supplier development, incumbent negotiation, VA/VE, and Make vs Buy.

  • Conduct regular domestic and international supplier business reviews with strategic suppliers that include supplier performance reviews, technology roadmaps, business growth strategies and supply market changes.

  • Operational activities of supplier management include communicating and resolving daily issues between internal organizations and suppliers, leading weekly cross-functional team calls to cover open issues, actively working/monitoring quality, and performance issues.

  • Acts as the point of accountability for escalation and arbitration for supplier related issues.

  • Identify new and/or alternate sources of supply both domestically and internationally.

  • Manage and execute regular RFx/market event processes to drive competition.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as supply/demand planning, operations, engineering, marketing, quality, and finance to effectively drive accurate material forecasting, purchasing, compliance and standardized processes that enable continuity of supply, reduces E&O exposure, lowers material cost, and ensures alignment between sourcing strategy and overall Operating Segment objectives.

  • Represent procurement as a key stakeholder to cross-functional peers from groups inclusive of R&D, quality, brand marketing, supply chain, and finance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of relevant sourcing or supply chain experience required.

  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead/influence cross functional teams.

  • Conflict management/Resolution experience.

  • International purchasing experience.

  • Superior negotiation skills and time management

  • Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a matrix organization.

  • A background in EE or experience with burning appliance is a plus
