Google Technical Program Manager III, Packaging Engineering and Sustainability, Technical Infrastructure in Atlanta, Georgia

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program management.

  • Experience with packaging engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience with CAD (e.g., ArtiosCAD, Creo, or SolidWorks) and life-cycle assessment tools.

  • Experience with hardware product packaging and structural design, and with ASTM and ISTA test protocols.

  • Knowledge of sourcing packaging materials, pulp packaging, rigid packaging, and working with international supply base partners.

  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging principles and materials, with a passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Cloud Strategic Supply Services Organization Packaging team makes sure physical deliveries and installations happen on schedule. The goal is to institute a leading packaging model that establishes scalable and sustainable operations. The team is committed to revolutionizing the packaging industry by creating innovative, sustainable solutions that protect products while minimizing environmental impact. In this role, you will research new materials, optimize packaging designs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging aligns with sustainability goals.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Research and evaluate new materials for environmental impact, performance, and cost-effectiveness, and develop innovative packaging designs that minimize material usage, waste, and carbon footprint.

  • Conduct life-cycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impact of different packaging solutions and recycling streams, analyze current packaging designs to identify opportunities for improvement in sustainability, and contribute to engineering optimization efforts for new product introductions in Cloud.

  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams to optimize packaging for sustainability without compromising product protection, work with product development, supply chain, and marketing teams to integrate sustainability into the packaging process.

  • Track and report on key sustainability metrics related to packaging. prepare presentations and reports on sustainability initiatives and progress, and educate/advocate for sustainable packaging practices across the organization.
