Job Description :

L3Harris is looking for a Systems Engineer to perform/analyze system requirements, design, integration and troubleshooting on the Air Traffic Control Voice Switching System and Equipment. This is a large complex communications system vital to air traffic operations and safety. The position interfaces with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as multiple functional areas including Test, Configuration Management, Software and Hardware Engineering. The position is the point of contact to provide technical expertise on system design and requirements. Successful team members will be working to help support the global aviation community with advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for requirements analysis and troubleshooting system problems on telecommunications systems.

  • Design and integration of subsystem and related system upgrades and enhancements.

  • Create technical documents and artifacts when developing technical solutions.

  • Conduct presentations and interface with the FAA customer to provide technical expertise

  • Act as the team subject matter expert in system design and main point of contact to support field trouble call failure resolution.

  • Review and interpret existing design and update technical documentation.

  • 20% short-term travel may be required.

  • Minimal shift work may be required.

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, SW Engineering or related area of study with 0-3 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Must have a good presentation and customer interfacing skills.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Must possess strong technical writing skills.

  • Good analytical and troubleshooting abilities

  • Ability to acquire FAA public trust clearance

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience working with or supporting the FAA in a Systems, Test or Software role.

  • Telecommunications and networking system experience

  • Experience with CMMI, ISO, Agile or equivalent quality standards

  • Experience in requirements analysis as well as systems troubleshooting, design and documentation.

  • Knowledge of analog and/or VoIP telecommunication systems, voice, data, radio, fiber optics, T1, T2, ATM, SIP, etc.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Operating Systems and Linux based operating systems such as Redhat, CentOS etc.
