Job Summary

Laborers will perform tasks involving physical labor on heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects. Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Flagging traffic passing near, in, or around work zones; control set-up and may assist other craft workers and perform other labor-related duties as instructed by supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Perform tasks involving physical labor on the project

  • Assist concrete, drainage, and retaining wall crews where needed

  • Load and unload material

  • Flagging traffic passing near, in, or around work zones

  • Control set-up

  • May operate hand and power tools

  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

  • Perform work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.)

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines set forth in the company’s safety program

  • Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling items up to 50 pounds

  • Perform other labor-related duties as instructed by the supervisor

    Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 1-year heavy highway, road, concrete, form setting, or bridge construction laborer experience

  • Physical ability to perform assigned tasks (lifting to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, climbing, standing, etc.)

  • General labor skills

  • Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools of all types

  • Knowledge of operating a variety of other equipment and instruments is a plus

  • Flagging and Traffic Control certification a plus

  • Previous flagging and traffic control experience
