About The Job
Dudek is seeking an experienced environmental engineer/hydrogeologist/geologist available in Northern California with our Hydrogeology/HazWaste group. Our environmental engineers, hydrogeologists and other technical specialists help public agencies and private landowners assess potential contamination; design and implement remediation strategies; and interact with regulatory agencies to obtain site closure and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. We conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), design and implement soil vapor and groundwater monitoring and remediation programs, evaluate and mitigate vapor intrusion, and manage environmental permitting and compliance efforts. The applicant would be based in the Sacramento area or San Francisco Bay Area and be assigned to Dudek’s Oakland, Sacramento, or Auburn office.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):
Manage and conduct Phase I and II ESAs; oversee/conduct field work including soil, soil vapor, indoor air, and groundwater sampling
Critically and independently analyze datasets, manage tabular and graphical summaries, and articulate findings/conclusions/recommendations
Research, evaluate, and implement remediation alternatives
Prepare technical reports, including environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring reports, site investigation reports, work plans, remediation documents and reports, and environmental permitting/compliance plans
Interpretation of state and federal policies and regulations, in particular as they relate to hazardous substances
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop/improve Northern California projects/efforts related to site assessment and remediation; prepare proposals (with Marketing support, as needed) and participate in interviews
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, or similar field
8+ years’ experience in the field of hydrogeology, geology, or environmental engineering, including project management experience
Licensed professional engineer or geologist in California
Experience in project management including writing, scoping, budgeting and managing deliverables
Experience scoping, conducting, and overseeing groundwater, soil and/or soil vapor sampling
Current OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER certification
Excellent technical writing skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment
- As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to perform field work and work with subcontractors in construction-type settings
Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills
Competence with Geographic Information Systems and Excel
Experience working with regulators; permitting experience
Groundwater well design and well construction oversight
Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA requirements and experience preparing hazards- and water-related analyses and technical studies.

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.

Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Proposed Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
