Universal Health Services Lead Psychiatric Care Specialist - Day Shift in AUBURN HILLS, Michigan

Responsibilities

HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital s a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

Position Summary

The Lead Psychiatric Care Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the treatment team and provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the Milieu Manager. This position functions as an integral part in the training and oversight of the Psychiatric Care Association.

Duties and responsibilities, to include; but are not limited to:

  • Receive at least 8 hours of continuous education annually offered by the facility

  • Encourage other mental health technicians to take active roles in treatment of patients.

  • Formulate shift responsibilities with the Charge Nurse and facilitate PCS groups.

  • Assists with patient admissions, discharges and transfers.

  • Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.

  • Two (2) years of related experience required. Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience training and developing other staff members in psychiatric patient care techniques or at least one (1) year of experience performing similar duties at facility.

  • Successful completion of approved Basic Life Support and approved Crisis Prevention Intervention & Behavioral Management training. Certification may be obtained during new hire orientation.

  • Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers. EEO Statement
