THE POSITION

Senior Quality Engineer -- ADAS, Continental Autonomous Mobility US, LLC, Auburn Hills, MI:

To manage failure analysis activities to determine the root cause of suspected returned products of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, update internal database or customer websites with results of that analysis. Organize and optimize part handling, analysis, tracking, and reporting to maintain a high level of test capacity with efficient resources. Defines and requests reworking of components or parts needed for root cause analysis. Provide accurate timely parts analysis status reports, technical documentation/presentations, and related investigations on failure analysis topics as required by Management. To follow up with Continental suppliers the status of their Corrective and Preventive Actions until completion and confirm if a special project is needed to extend the supplier scope to other locations or regions. Coordinate test capability with other test centers and improvements with application engineering staff and technical centers of expertise for specific products and participate in problem solving activity to provide product improvement insight beyond basic tracking of warranty claim status. Organize electrical and environmental testing with external labs when internal capabilities are unavailable. Maintain direct communication and build relationships with the customers in topics related to technical analysis of 0 miles and field parts. Provide status of technical analysis or corrective/preventive actions and prepare reports, presentations, statistical analysis as required by the customer. Provide data-driven insight based on failure modes to other disciplines as development, product management, manufacturing, and quality staff as an input for lessons learned/read across for current or future products. Implement and follow up Continuous Improvement and problem-solving activities using technical analysis and data mining, evaluate the effectiveness of 8D reports from other regions.

 

Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus 2 years of related work experience.

 

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

 

  • Using automotive quality tools, including 8Ds, 7-steps or 5 phase reports, to define the root cause of ADAS product failures and to report analysis investigation;
  • Applying problem solving methodologies and root cause analysis, including 5 why, is/is not, fishbone, Kepner Tregoe, Shainin or Red X;
  • Using standard electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, power supplies, temperature chambers or spectrum analyzers to test failed ADAS products; and
  • Developing automotive electronic modules testing reports and rework procedures.

     

Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
