Globus Medical, Inc. Senior Development Engineer in Audubon, Pennsylvania

Position Summary:

The Senior Development Engineer designs and develops new invasive and noninvasive medical device product(s) that allow integration with our navigation and robotics-enabling technology platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops innovative mechanical solutions to meet patient and surgeon needs from concept to commercialization

  • Works in cross-functional teams, including regulatory, quality, research, testing, manufacturing, etc., to help manage the product development process, project timeline, and deliverables to ensure safe and practical designs for clinical use

  • Conducts feasibility studies of the design to determine its ability to function as intended

  • Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development

  • Creates and supports prototypes and processes using internal or external resources

  • Uses CAD software and rapid prototyping equipment for designing medical devices suitable for traditional, novel, and additive manufacturing methods

  • Generates engineering drawings with dimensions and tolerances

  • Maintains documentation for design control and regulatory compliance

  • Documents technical assessments such as FEA and tolerance analyses

  • Supports manufacturing using in-house prototyping equipment or external suppliers

  • Assists with cadaver labs during surgeon education events, including setup and equipment operation

  • Ensures adherence to project schedules and compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 standards

  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies

  • Ensures compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role

  • Represents the company in a professional manner and upholds the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent

  • Experience in implementing mechanical design solutions, including design calculations

  • Ability to translate requirements into functional mechanical solutions

  • Proficiency in CAD software, mechanical test methods, and component datasheets

  • Strong ability to interpret technical documents and adhere to safety protocols

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and design principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for writing reports and correspondence

  • Knowledge of FDA and ISO 13485 regulations

  • Previous experience in medical device design is preferred

  • Up to 10% travel required
