Summary This position is located within the Surgery Service at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Provides assistant to analysts or managers by conducting reviews, performing analyses and evaluations involving the collection, compilations, and/or tracking of data in support of Surgery Service Line's administrative and clinical program operations. Works in collaboration with the Business Manager and Service Line Executive to sustain and improve the operational management for programs and services. Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track deadlines on items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc. Works in collaboration with the Quality Management staff in monitoring and reviewing performance measure data. Assists in the preparation of reports and tracking pertaining to workload/productivity. Ensures timely response for all requests for information and follows through with assignment until completion. Provides support for established committees and work groups as they relate to service line operations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the grade of GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Customer service experiences, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques. Providing information and assistance in support of customer service functions in a medical treatment facility; utilizing automated systems to maintain and retrieve healthcare records; and assisting with workload distribution among staff. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. Must provide transcripts. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Must provide transcripts. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and Management Analysis and Problem Solving Budget Administration Computer Skills Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
