Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • The candidate's primary responsibilities will be to conduct impactful research in the area of polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and participate in the PKD Translational Group research program. The ideal candidate will have a record of scholarly productivity, mentorship and have received independent funding as Principal Investigator from the National Institute of Health, other Federal Funding agencies, Foundations, or Societies (including career development awards).

  • The candidate will be recommended for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:

  • Education: Have an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, DO, or international equivalent terminal degree.

  • Experience: Have a proven record of scientific leadership i.e., running an independent hypothesis driven research project.

  • Experience: Have a proven record of scholarly work in the field of PKD or other closely related fields (e.g., renal ciliopathies).

  • Special Skills: Physician-scientist will be required to have a medical license.

Associate Professor

  • Education: Have an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, DO, or international equivalent terminal degree.

  • Experience: Have at least 5-years of experience at a faculty level with a proven record of scientific leadership i.e., running an independent hypothesis driven research project.

  • Experience: Have at least 5-years of experience with a proven record of scholarly work in the field of PKD or other closely related fields (e.g., renal ciliopathies).

  • Special Skills: Physician-scientist will be required to have a medical license.

Preferred Qualifications at both ranks:

  • A record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding.

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, and community organizations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities at both ranks:

  • Accomplishment in basic and/or translational research and building relationships with clinical researchers

  • A demonstrated commitment to education and mentorship of medical and graduate students, residents and fellows.

The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an outstanding physician-scientist or PhD-scientist in the area of polycystic kidney disease (PKD). This individual will contribute to research, and other programmatic missions of the PKD translational research group.

The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension is internationally renowned for its clinical and research programs. In addition, as one of the largest Nephrology research and training program in the country, the Division is also internationally recognized for its role in producing academic leaders in Nephrology. The Division has trained a large number of academic Nephrology physicians in this country who are currently practicing. The Division consists of over 50 faculty located in three hospitals and one research institute. These include University of Colorado Hospital, Denver Veterans Administration Hospital, and Denver Health.
