Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities

  • The HR Manager is responsible for all aspects of human resources administration related to the Department of Family Medicine.

  • In conjunction with the HR/Recruiting Specialist and the Faculty Affairs Specialist, is responsible for all recruiting and onboarding activities and new employee orientation for faculty and staff.

  • Identifies opportunities for professional development programs to meet organizational needs, training/cross-training, mentorship programs, employee communications, and other opportunities for improvement and working with appropriate stakeholders to implement.

  • Responsible for articulating complex HR concepts clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and leadership.

  • Remain current on policies and procedures for the above tasks and ensure compliance with all Department, University, state and federal guidelines.

  • Provide education and advice to leadership related to staff and faculty employment and compliance, including documentation and initiation of discipline and discharge procedures and work in concert with human resources at the University of Colorado.

  • Provide assistance in faculty personnel issues under the guidance of the Department Chair, DFA, and Vice Chairs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Five (5) years of professional experience with general HR which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of human resources management experience; preferably in a higher education, medical school or health services setting.

  • Experience with diversity, equity and inclusion efforts as they relate to human resources functions.

  • Certification in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP).

  • Demonstrated process improvement experience and experience using technology to streamline processes.

  • Smartsheet experience and proficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $68,000 - $86,000.
