Wheeling St. Aroura, CO, 80045 FLSA Status : Non-exempt. (90-day temporary position with possibility of temp-to-hire) Salary: $17.20 /hour + $4.57 Health and Welfare Schedule: hours of operation : Mon-Fri 6am-8pm Sat-sun 830-5pm (full time/part time neg.) Updated: August 12, 2024 SUMMARY: Patient Transporters provide quality patient care through the safe, timely transport of patients and items to designated locations on the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center campus. Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Provides patient assistance to both inpatients and outpatients in their movement throughout the medical center by wheelchair, gurney, inpatient bed, etc. Transports patients to and from the main hospital entrances and parking garage structures. Communicates with Dispatch to receive and relay relevant data and instructions for transports. Provides minimal assistance to patients needing help in and out of their conveyance and alerts facility staff when further assistance is required. Picks up biological specimens from various units and delivers them to the hospital laboratory. Provides information and customer service to hospital guests and patients. When not moving patients, Patient Transporters may also be called upon to aid in other ways, such as tracking, collecting, and sanitizing patient transport equipment, assisting with metrics and reporting, etc. Will be trained to handle multi-line phone system and provide customer service as back-up Dispatcher. Performs all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential, and professional manner. QUALIFICATIONS Good customer service skills. Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly while bending, stooping, and walking. The ability to walk 5+ miles per shift. Strong dependability and self-sufficiency. Ability to respond quickly and independently to varying situations. Must have effective communication and literacy skills. Must be able to work with a variety of personalities and problems. MUST pass security clearance. Will be required to receive TB test and have Hep B vaccination and Influenza Vaccine or sign declinations. Will be required to obtain Heartsaver/CPR certification from AHA. Be able to have a flexible schedule-subject to change by management. This position is a CONTRACT POSITION and is subject to renewal. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Highschool education/GED equivalent preferred but not needed. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form preferred.
